Frames for shamanic drums, also known as hoops, frames or rings, are made of sanded wood and can be supplied by Sjamaan.nl in many different diameters, from 25 centimetres to 70 centimetres. We have various types of wood in stock. In addition to the standard wood types such as ash and willow we sell special round frames for building your own spiritual drum in rosewood, mulberry, red oak and maple. If you want something special for your own drum, we also have egg-shaped frames for shamanic drums in various sizes in stock. Everything you need for your own drum is included in these Do It Yourself drum sets. In the complete DIY drum building kits you choose a frame size and a type of skin and we supply the best quality cord with it. Care of a Shamanic Drum
Care of a shamanic drum A shamanic drum is alive.* In the center of the drum resides the spirit. The spirit of the drum. This is what we believe and what we have experienced with the drum. During trance journeys, you come to know your drum and the unique qualities of that specific drum, and the spirit of the drum comes to life. The making of the drum is not called a birth process without reason. The drum comes to life the moment you have performed the ceremonies surrounding its creation. In ceremony, the drum reveals its intention to you. And that is when your journey together truly begins. The drum is alive physically as well. The skin responds to the physical conditions of its environment. In a warm, dry space, the skin tightens slightly, while in a cold, humid environment it absorbs moisture and expands. Caring for your shamanic drum is essential. In an overly dry, warm environment or in direct sunlight, the skin can shrink so much that too much tension builds up on the frame. This may cause the frame to crack. To prevent this, never leave your drum outside in direct sunlight or uncovered in a warm car.If you want to play the drum or if a warm, dry environment is unavoidable, lightly mist the drum regularly with a spray bottle. Our spray bottle is filled with 100% sage hydrolate, so in addition to moisturizing, your drum is also energetically cleansed. When the drum is kept in a cold, humid environment, the skin absorbs moisture and the tension decreases. The sound of the drum may become dull because the vibration can no longer fully resonate. You can gently warm the drum near a radiator or by the warmth of a (camp)fire. Drying out causes the skin to become more porous over time. To slow down this process, we have developed a special wax. This wax has a perfectly balanced blend of beeswax and almond oil. Especially during the winter months, when your drum is kept in a warm, dry space, it is nourishing for the skin to be gently massaged with this wax. We have enriched the wax with essential myrrh oil and sage hydrolate for their cleansing qualities. And in the summer months, moths are fond of your drum with hair. We offer 2 types of cedar wood that you can keep with your drum to keep moths at a distance. The complete care kit consists of a tin of wax, a spray bottle of sage hydrosol, a cedar wood flower and 1 smudge bomb. All four are selected for their spiritual qualities to cleanse, protect and strengthen your drum.

Lace Raw Hide
For a 100% natural drum, use Lace Raw Hide made from water buffalo. Water buffalo hide is very well suited for use as lacing cord for your shamanic drum. The width is approximately 1 cm and the thickness of the lace is on average 0.2 cm. While lacing, you wet the lace and as it dries it shrinks, bringing your drum to a higher tension. For the lace we recommend slightly larger holes, approximately 5 to 6 mm — the <a href="https://sjamaan.nl/en/product-category/supplies-for-drum-building/hole-punches/">hole punch pliers</a> are perfect for making neat round holes in your drum skin. Lace is available in lengths of 9 and 18 metres!

Ik dank dier en boom ceremonieel voor ik begin en reinig alles met Floridawater en Salie. Daarnaast zit in iedere drum mijn energie en de energie van Vajrapani, mijn geboorteboeddha. Ik reciteer zijn mantra ‘Om benza pani hung’ tijdens het bouwen en voeg zijn energie toe. Hierdoor helpen de drums jezelf en anderen te helen en verbeteren je karma. Ze helpen je blokkades op te ruimen zodat groei en heling plaats kunnen vinden. Omdat ik geboorte geef aan helende drums en heling komt na ‘pijn’, voeg ik dat ook toe; dat transformeert naar helende kracht. Als je een verbinding voelt met een van deze drums ben je van e welkom in de yurt, of tijdens een drumcirkel, om uit te vinden of jij de hoeder bent.'

Loose white sage
Witte salie wordt vaak gebruikt bij het maken van een sjamanendrum vanwege zijn zuiverende eigenschappen. Het wordt traditioneel gebruikt door inheemse Amerikaanse volkeren voor spirituele reiniging en om negatieve energieën te verdrijven. Bij het maken van een sjamanendrum kan witte salie worden gebruikt om de materialen te reinigen, zoals de huid die wordt gebruikt voor de drum, evenals het frame en andere materialen. Cord for drum building
Cord for drum building At Sjamaan.nl you can lace your drum in 2 different ways: with cord or with lace. Lace is a natural product, made from water buffalo hide. The width is approximately 1 cm and the thickness of the lace is on average 0.2 cm. While lacing, you wet the lace and as it dries it shrinks, bringing your drum to a higher tension. The cord we use and sell for drum building is cord also used for parachutes. This cord is strong, unbreakable and non-elastic. The cord retains its firmness thanks to its double core, keeping the drum at the right tension — making it suitable for adjustable shamanic drums as well as drums that are laced directly to the correct tension. The drum building cord has a diameter of 3 mm and fits perfectly in the holes made by <a href="https://sjamaan.nl/en/product-category/supplies-for-drum-building/hole-punches/ </a> we recommend for making drums. For lace we recommend slightly larger holes, approximately 5 to 6 mm — the hole punch pliers are perfect for this. Colours make the difference We have many different colours of drum building cord in stock, so there is always a colour to match your shamanic drum.
